Spring cleaning is something most mother's used to do,
even my mother.

You see my mother had eight girls. Yes, you read right eight girls. And with eight girls, you had your own cleaning crew. So my mother thought. Now all eight of us didn't agree with her, but we each had a job.

Momma was determined to get that house cleaned for spring. Now Spring cleaning is a time honored tradition and we girls dreaded when that time came.

Today I discovered if you follow these simple steps iit doesn't take a lot of time and the kids won't mind pitching in.

1. Gather your tools. Every job requires the right tools and
cleaning is no exception!

  • Paper towels, vacuum, all purpose cleaning solution, duster, trash bags, disinfectant, broom, mop and sponges.

2. Now start going room to room. I always begin in my living
room.

  • HINT- having a check off list is helpful as you go room to room.

3. Begin by dusting the room. This includes, but not limited
to, shelves, pictures, knick knacks, etc. I have less knick knacks that my mother, also I only had one girl.

4. Now let's deep clean & disinfect! Clean mirrors,
telephones, light switches, door knobs and other surfaces including
windows.

5. Ok de-clutter time! It is best to declutter every day in 15 minute increments.

  • Pick up all old magazines, newspapers, toys, books, clothes
  • and anything else lying around or out of place.
  • If it doesn't have a purpose or a place give it or throw it
  • away!

6. Next we'll brighten & polish! Polish up wood surfaces and
brighten the chrome.

7. Lastly we sweep out & clean baseboards. Sweep and mop or
vacuum our floors.

  • HINT - don't forget to hit the windowsills, and vents with
  • the vacuum cleaner.
  • HINT – look up! Vacuum those ceiling fans and room corners!

8. Almost done! Add finishing touches.

  • Make beds, fluff pillows, etc.
  • Re-arrange or add decoration.
  • Light some candles or potpourri.

9. Now sit down with a good book and a cup of green tea and
relax! You deserve it.
